Early October Email

Dear Youth Education Families: 

Thank you for your attention and time.  Here are 13 important notes for the next few weeks.

Our Education Office is open between 10am and 6pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.   On Fridays, we are open between 10am and 4pm.   The Education Office will be open during program hours on Sundays and Wednesdays.

  1. Schedules:  There will not be classes on October 2, 3, & 4 2007.  Hebrew School classes begin Wednesday, October 10th.
  2. Next Sunday is Green(e) Day.  Please wear green clothing or your GFC gear.  There will be a movie.  Parents are invited to join us to watch the movie and to ask questions.  The Greene Family Camp movie will be shown in the Sanctuary on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 10am.  Staff from GFC will be available to answer questions.  Students in first grade and up are eligible for camp during Summer 2008.
  3. Classrooms & Snacks:  Please make sure to go to your child’s classroom next Sunday to sign up to be responsible for snack during the year.  Each teacher has a snack list sign up sheet for each session of class.  No nuts, please.
  4. Classroom # Apology:  We apologize for the room changes on Sunday.  We are trying our best to accommodate students and teachers as well as our renters.  We hope to keep the new room numbers for the course of the year.
  5. Switching Classes:  If your student needs to switch a class or a session, please fill out a Switch Form in the Education Office or email us the details at Education@bethisrael.org.  Please Note:  Most of our 9am classes are over-full.  We cannot switch students into 9am classes.  We are extremely grateful to the families who have joined 11:30am classes.
  6. Scouts with Snacks:  For the four Sundays of October, our various member Scout Troops will be selling popcorn.  To choose your Sunday, please reply to this email.  Please coordinate to share Sundays with members of your own troop.
  7. Pizza Apology:  We truly apologize about the pizza lunch being late last Sunday.  The parent volunteers asked me to tell you: On the whole, your students were remarkably patient and polite about waiting.  In the future, we aim to provide lunches quickly and early.
  8. Volunteer Opportunities:  To volunteer to help sell pizza which raises money for Education at CBI, please contact Lauren by telephone at or by email at.  To volunteer as a Grade Level Parent, please reply to this email.
  9. There will be a Parent Discussion with our parent Lay Leaders on October 14th at 9:30am.  Please join other parents to discuss what the community can do to make this year our best possible year.  Coffee and nosh will be provided.
  10. Please join us on Sunday, October 21st for an Israel discussion led by a visiting expert from Melitz.  We will be discussing Israeli democracy and current events in the Middle East.  The discussion will be held in Smith Auditorium.  Coffee will be provided.  Please bring your own falafel (or bagels).
  11. GFC is hosting a Jewish retreat weekend for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders on November 9, 10, 11th.  Please sign up on the GFC website – http://greene.urjcamps.org/  Please let us know if you sign up and are interested in using shared CBI/TBS transportation.
  12. Daylight Saving Time is Sunday, November 4th.  Please make sure to set your clocks back Saturday night so you can get to Sunday School on time.
  13. There will not be classes on Sunday, November 11th.  To volunteer to help with our teacher in-service meeting that day, please reply to this email.
