Dear Parents,
I can hardly believe that Chanukah time is here already! It feels like our first day of school was just yesterday and I was doing my best to simply remember the names of all of your children and now it seems as though I have had the pleasure of knowing them forever.
This week Brotherhood will be making breakfast tacos again and I will be sure to have them in the classroom waiting for your children when they arrive. I forgot to get them last month and there was quite a bit of sadness expressed by everyone so, I decided to try my hardest to remember them the next time! I have also ordered a dozen “sufganiyot” (jelly donuts) for us to enjoy on Sunday, December 9th to celebrate Chanukah.
Now that you are convinced that all we do is eat during our class time together I will give you a brief update on what we will be studying for the next couple of weeks. We will continue to learn about ritual and blessings; in particular the shecheheyanu (which is said on the first night of Chanukah after the candles have been lit) and will do a comprehensive review of what we have learned so far. This will give your children a fantastic vocabulary which they should be able to wow you with when playing, what appears to be for many of them, their favorite game: hangman!
Finally, the entire Religious school is participating in a canned food drive beginning this Sunday, December 2nd and ending on Sunday, December 18th. Please remember to send non-perishable food items in non-breakable containers with your children to Sunday school so that we can share our blessings with those who may not be as fortunate.
I would like to thank you once again for the support that you provide to our classroom by means of supplying snack and e-mail communications regarding absences. We are really enjoying our time together and I look forward to continuing to learn with your children!
