Rabbi Benjamin Sternman, Associate Rabbi

Rabbi Benjamin D. Sternman was ordained at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City in May 2003. Before joining Congregation Beth Israel in July 2003, Rabbi Sternman earned a bachelor of arts degree in history and a master of business administration degree in finance and general management at Cornell University. Upon receiving his MBA, Rabbi Sternman joined Eaton Corporation in Cleveland, OH where he served for five years.

Before entering rabbinic school, Rabbi Sternman was a frequent volunteer at his synagogue in Cleveland. It was during this period that his rabbi suggested that he consider becoming a rabbi himself. After much introspection, Rabbi Sternman decided to enter rabbinic school in 1992. “Judaism is centered on enhancing human life and values and the dignity of all human beings,” said Rabbi Sternman. “My new role as rabbi allows me to focus more on these key Jewish values.” In addition to his rabbinic duties, Rabbi Sternman teaches the ninth grade confirmation class and works closely with bar and bat mitzvah students at Congregation Beth Israel.
