Rabbi Emeritus Louis Firestein

Rabbi Emeritus Louis Firestein received his bachelor of arts degree from Yeshiva University in New York City. He was ordained in 1953 at the New York campus of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Following his military assignment as an Air Force chaplain, he held the post of assistant-later associate-rabbi at Temple Emanu El in Houston, Texas. In 1962 he came to Austin and served as rabbi of our Congregation for 25 years. He retired in 1987 and was granted the status of rabbi emeritus
