In Honor of Sukkot - The Book of Kohelet
PLEASE NOTE: THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 6:45 PM IN THE LEARNING CENTER
Please join us to study the immortal words of Kohelet – called ‘Ecclesiastes’ in English.
Many people believe that Shakespeare coined the phrase: “There is nothing new under the sun.” (from The Book of Kohelet 1:9) Now, Kohelet wants proper credit.
Texts will be provided. You are, of course, welcome to bring your Bible or your Shakespeare, as you like.

The Adults-Only (Over 21) Study
Megillot* for Purim and Pesach
Last year’s students couldn’t wait to celebrate Esther in all her triumphant, feminine, Jewish glory. This year, we will return to Esther’s chamber for a feast of sexy words and literary images. In honor of Purim, come find the joy of Purim’s so-called history.
Texts will be provided. No Prerequisites. No Registration. Membership is not required. Drop Ins are Welcome. Please bring food or drink to share. No nuts please – in the food, that is.
We would really appreciate rsvps so we’ll know how much ice water and texts to provide. RSVP to education@bethisrael.org.
*Megillot – ancient scrolls containing rich, vivid stories – are assigned to each Jewish holiday.

The Song of Songs
Last year’s students wouldn’t settle for sexy midrash and rabbinic innuendo. They wanted to hear the ‘real’ meaning behind the words of Song of Songs. Blessedly, there is an endless treasure trove of vivid language in the Song of Songs. Rabbi Lippe will once again facilitate an adults-only discussion of the Song of Songs, in honor of Pesach.
